Successful Home Business – Budgeting For Online Marketing

May 14th, 2009

In this article we’re going to be talking about the importance of setting a monthly budget for your home based business and how to go about doing so.

In all honesty when you’re first starting out with internet marketing your budget doesn’t really need to be that big at all. A lot of people will tell you that you need hundreds to effectively market online and that’s just not the case because if you’re doing it right almost all online marketing is free.

This is a great thing for the home business newbie because 99 times out of 100 most people don’t have that much to spend anyway. So they need to use the money they do spend in an effective way.

So what you want to do first and foremost is figure out how much money you can afford to spend every single month. If you have extra one month that’s awesome, but on a normal month to month basis how much can you afford to spend on marketing?

Don’t worry about how big or small the number is… it can be $3000, $300 or even $30 and you can still run a successful online business. So don’t stress out about it. Just pick the dollar amount that’s right for you and stick with it.

Next you’re going to want to list all the different ways that you want to market online. Remember, almost all online marketing is free so even if you have 40 different methods on your list probably less than 5 of them should require a financial investment.

Things like Squidoo, Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, Forums, Youtube, Article Marketing, and Blogs are all free. I don’t have time in this article to explain how each of them work but there is lots of good information all over the internet to teach you how to use each and every one of these!

So since all of those are free what should you spend your money on? Things like PPC perhaps… although PPC (or pay per click) can be really dangerous for the internet marketing newbie because you can end up spending a TON of money and get very little in return. However if you do want to use PPC that’s fine just make sure you have a budget for that.

Other things you can spend money on online are domain names, hosting, and website creation if you don’t already have a website that you like.

Once you’ve made your list write a dollar amount next to each item. That dollar amount will represent your monthly budget for each one of these things. (Hint: “free” should be written next to many things)

Now that you’ve made your monthly budget the only thing you have left to do is stick with it! That can be easier said than done sometimes and you might be tempted to go over budget but try to avoid doing so because when you stay on budget you’ll be less frustrated with your business.

It is when people go off budget, waste a lot of money and still aren’t wealthy that they get frustrated and want to quit.

Follow these simple steps and create an awesome budget that will keep your home based business on track and profitable.

Network Marketing’s #1 Mistake And How To Avoid It!

May 13th, 2009

Network marketing, you either love it or you hate it. If you’re successful in MLM you know there is nothing like the feeling of helping people while you help yourself.

It’s true, I admit it… I love network marketing. I believe it’s far and away the best way to make an honest living from home. However, there is one thing about network marketing that drives me crazy.

Everyone always wants to teach you how to network.

“Talk to your friends, talk to your family, talk to complete strangers.”

But nobody ever wants to talk about the marketing part of network marketing.

If you want success in MLM you’re going to have to learn how to market. So what do you do when your upline or your company doesn’t know or wont teach you how to do it?

The answer is simple… find someone who does know how to market and learn from them.

On the internet there are all kinds of marketing experts you just have to know where to find them. One of the best places to find a marketing expert is on a video sharing site like Youtube.

On Youtube there are a lot of silly videos but there are also a ton of videos that will teach you how to truly market your home based business.

Let me point out another thing too… marketing is not necessarily the same thing as advertising and almost all marketing online is free if you know what you’re doing.

Another great place to find marketing tips is on a forum. There are many, many forums on the internet dedicated to online marketing. One of the best ones is the Warrior forum. There is a wealth of information on marketing on the Warrior forum and all you have to do is read and learn!

Of course the best way to learn marketing in network marketing is through your upline. So if you’re not currently involved in a home based business shop around for a while and find someone who truly understands the art of marketing and how it applies to a home based business.

No product will ever sell it’s self without the use of marketing. So take some time and learn how to market your business more effectively, you and your paycheck will be glad you did.

Four MLM Personality Types – Which MLM Personality Are You?

May 12th, 2009

In any home based business there are 4 different and distinct types of people. Which one are you? Which ones should you avoid? And which ones should you always listen to? Listen up because it’s all right here!

In any given home based business, network marketing company or MLM opportunity you will find: The Dreamers, The Big Talkers, The Workers and the Winners.

Let’s start with the dreamers because there are a lot of them. In fact in every single home based business there are probably more dreamers than everyone else combined. The dreamers are the ones that make up the masses of MLM.

The dreamers are good people with big dreams. They want to quit their job, they want the fancy car and the great vacation. The dreamers are usually good hearted, hard working people with regular full time jobs. Although stay at home moms can be in the dreamer category too.

Anyone who starts off in MLM is going to start off as a dreamer. The key is not to stay there. If you’ve been a part of a company for more than a year and you’re still just in the dreamer category chances are you’ll never make it in the business. That might sound mean but it’s just the truth.

Dreaming is good but if you’re not working to make it a reality it’s pretty worthless.

The next category to look out for are the big talkers. I’m sure you know the type. They are pretty impossible to miss after all.

The big talkers are the ones who sign up to get started in a company and like to talk about how successful they’re going to be. You can always spot these people because they’ll be saying something like:

“I’m gonna be the fastest person to ever hit $100,000 a year” or “I have a background in sales so I’m gonna blow this thing out of the water”

It’s not that it’s bad to make these claims but you’d better be ready to back them up and 99.9% of the time the “big talkers” don’t do that.

Much like the dreamers it’s ok to start here (although you’re going to annoy some people) but if you’ve been in the business for a while and you’re still not doing what you’ve been talking about doing you probably never will.

Big talkers usually come and go in a home based business.

Next is the workers, these are people who are having moderate success in their business because they work hard for it.

They may not know everything about everything, but they are consistent and they’re on their way to the top. The workers might even make enough money to quit their full time job but they haven’t really had their big breakthrough just yet.

If you stay in the worker category for long enough and keep at it you’ll move into our final category.

The winners! You know a winner when you see them. They are the ones on stage, teaching others, winning contests and awards and showing everyone else what they should aspire too.

There usually aren’t very many winners in any business but that’s not because it’s impossible to get there it’s just because most people aren’t willing to stay in the worker category for long enough.

The winners usually still work on their business but their focus is usually more on helping others succeed since they’ve already had success themselves.

So which category do you fall under? No matter which one it is remember that it IS possible to succeed working from home. You just have to keep on working hard and believe in yourself and your business.

I’ll see you in the winners circle!

Successful Home Business – Three Important Mindset Principles

May 8th, 2009

90% of success in any home based business no matter what it is comes down to mindset. If your mind isn’t right you’re just not going to have very much success period. In this article I’m going to be talking about three things you can do to get your mind right so you can start having more success in your business than you could have ever imagined!

You’ll seriously be amazed at how much your business will be changed when you get your head in the right place.

#1 Ignore negative friends and family members

Listen, I have nothing against your family, friends or spouse. However, sometimes you just have to learn to ignore them! People are way, way, way too concerned with what everyone thinks of them and their business.

No matter what you do there are always going to be people who are going to speak negatively about it. The truth is they probably mean well, but they just don’t know what they don’t know.

If you freak out every time someone you know says something negative about your home based business you’re never going to get any work done.

Simply put… if you want to be successful you have to learn how to block some people out! Don’t let your friends and family cheat you out of living the life of your dreams because of negative talk.

#2 Don’t keep your goals in your head!

Writing down your dreams and goals is just SO important! It’s good to know what you want and have it in your head but writing it down is 100 times better.

When you have your dreams written out where you can physically see them they can help to motivate you in a way that they just won’t if their stuck in your head.

When you write down your goals you have to get specific too. Don’t just say “I want a new car” write down exactly what kind of car you want: make, model, color, everything!

#3 Celebrate the small victories

It’s really easy to get so bogged down with trying to reach your ultimate goal that you forget all about the mini victories that are happening in your life all the time.

Did you get your first sign up? Victory!

Did you call someone even though you were shaking and nervous? Victory!

By keeping track of each and every small victory that comes your way you’ll feel more successful and keep yourself in a better more positive frame of mind.

If you can master these three things you’ll be well on your way to a more positive and successful home based business. Remember that the key to finding true success working from home isn’t in your product, upline or company. It’s right between your ears!

Successful Home Business Tip – Twitter Mistakes To Avoid

May 7th, 2009

Twitter is a tool that is becoming more and more popular every single day. In the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing Twitter can be a powerful and exciting tool. However, if you don’t know how to use it correctly it can turn into a huge waste of time and yield you very few real results.

If you want to know how to use Twitter to grow your home based business you’re reading the right article! I’m about to reveal the top mistakes people make when using Twitter and exactly how to avoid them.

The first mistake is pretty obvious and yet sometimes overlooked. If you want to be successful promoting your home based business with Twitter you have to have plenty of followers. It’s always interesting to see people who claim to be the biggest and the best at something and yet they have absolutely no followers to back it up.

Let’s face it if you’re really as good as you claim to be… people will follow you. Even if you’re just getting started on Twitter or in your first home based business you still need lots of followers. The illusion is simple… if you have lots of followers you must be good.

Getting massive amounts of followers is really much more simple than people make it out to be. Look, if you follow a ton of people chances are they’ll follow you back too (at least about half of them). So get out there and start following anyone and everyone you can.

Of course you’ll also want to make sure most of the people you’re adding are people that have to do with your niche, not all but most.

Finding people in your niche is simple. Just find one big guy and follow who follows them… make sense? See, it really is amazingly simple.

Another huge mistake to avoid is doing nothing put promoting your business/ product. Twitter is a social network so be social. It’s ok to promote what you’re doing in moderation. Just don’t constantly be spamming people about your company and people will continue to follow you.

Twitter is great for giving people a behind the scenes look at your life and your business. So talk about the things you do throughout the day. In general just be yourself and let people get to know the real you. That way they’ll be much more inclined to trust you and want to buy from you or be in business with you.

The final major Twitter mistake to avoid is not being social! Twitter is a social network so talk to people, comment on their Tweets, and make sure you respond make to your direct messages. If you want people to care about you show them that you care about them first.

These are the top 3 major mistakes to avoid when using Twitter, but the biggest tip of all is to have fun with it! Don’t be shy, start Tweeting your way to home based business success!

What Are The Most Successful Home Businesses?

May 6th, 2009

I see this question a lot on Internet forums:  What are the most successful home businesses?

The answer is real simple:  Any legitimate opportunity has the ability to be a successful home business, and no one home business is really “more successful” than the other.  Sounds obsurd, right?  After all, some companies have more reps, more revenue, sell more volume, etc.

Well, there is some truth to all of this, but the bottom line is all successful home businesses go through cycles.  In today’s home business world, major players typically move companies.  A company that is massively successful right now may be less successful a year from now.  Its just the way the world works!

So what to look for in starting with a successful home business?

1.  What is the investment, and what does it take to earn it back?

If you cannot figure out without complex math how to get into the black in starting your home business, it may be too much of a risk.  A great, successful home business should lay it out exactly what it takes to make your money back, and it should be without a lot of hoops or hurdles.

2.  Is the company one of many or do they offer something unique?

There are so many copy-cat companies out there.  Find a company that has little competition for their niche.

3.  What type of training do you get from the company and your sponsor?

Remember, a home business is all about marketing.  If you are not taught effective, low cost methods of marketing, or how to market properly, you’re wasting your time (unless you have a ton of experience).  Find a company and a sponsor that knows what they are doing, know how to train, and plug-in to what they are doing and follow instructions.

Build A Success Home Business By Just Being Yourself!

May 5th, 2009

If you’re a home based business owner, or someone thinking about getting starting in one. You’re probably aware that there are a ton of articles, videos and ebooks out there about self improvement. Now I’m a big fan of self improvement I believe we should be working hard every day to make sure we’re constantly getting better and better as a person and as a business man or woman.

However, I also find it extremely important that we don’t forget about who we are and what makes us unique.

A lot of people feel that in order for you to be successful you have to model yourself after this person or that person. The truth is, instead of trying to be just like someone else we should simply be trying to be the best version of ourselves.

What do I mean exactly?

Well I believe that everyone is unique and because of that everyone should have their own business style and approach to making money from home. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t follow your companies success system or that you should try to re-invent the wheel. It just means that everything you do for your home based business in one way or another should have your own special stamp on it.

Take for instance the idea of video marketing. I love websites like Youtube and Revver for promoting my home based business. However, and I don’t mean to be mean when I say this…

Some people have the most sinfully boring videos I’ve ever watched!

If you’re a funny or interesting person in real life why shouldn’t that translate in your marketing videos? The answer is… it should! Just because your upline or someone else is successful with a boring run of the mill video doesn’t mean yours has to be that way. Show who you really are instead of trying to fit the mold of the “typical” network marketer.

It doesn’t just stop at video marketing either, when you’re talking to someone over the phone or in person about your home based business you shouldn’t be trying to pitch it like someone else. You should be talking to people the way you really talk to people. Got it?

It doesn’t make much to put your own unique stamp on everything you do for your business and I know that when you do you’ll be wishing you had all along. People want to talk to you… not a robot who tries to act like everybody else.

You really can succeed in a home based business just being who you are!
