Network Marketing’s #1 Mistake And How To Avoid It!

May 13th, 2009

Network marketing, you either love it or you hate it. If you’re successful in MLM you know there is nothing like the feeling of helping people while you help yourself.

It’s true, I admit it… I love network marketing. I believe it’s far and away the best way to make an honest living from home. However, there is one thing about network marketing that drives me crazy.

Everyone always wants to teach you how to network.

“Talk to your friends, talk to your family, talk to complete strangers.”

But nobody ever wants to talk about the marketing part of network marketing.

If you want success in MLM you’re going to have to learn how to market. So what do you do when your upline or your company doesn’t know or wont teach you how to do it?

The answer is simple… find someone who does know how to market and learn from them.

On the internet there are all kinds of marketing experts you just have to know where to find them. One of the best places to find a marketing expert is on a video sharing site like Youtube.

On Youtube there are a lot of silly videos but there are also a ton of videos that will teach you how to truly market your home based business.

Let me point out another thing too… marketing is not necessarily the same thing as advertising and almost all marketing online is free if you know what you’re doing.

Another great place to find marketing tips is on a forum. There are many, many forums on the internet dedicated to online marketing. One of the best ones is the Warrior forum. There is a wealth of information on marketing on the Warrior forum and all you have to do is read and learn!

Of course the best way to learn marketing in network marketing is through your upline. So if you’re not currently involved in a home based business shop around for a while and find someone who truly understands the art of marketing and how it applies to a home based business.

No product will ever sell it’s self without the use of marketing. So take some time and learn how to market your business more effectively, you and your paycheck will be glad you did.

Finding Time To Build Your Successful Home Business

February 26th, 2009

If you are a part of a home based business you have probably struggled with finding the time to work your business.  If you have, you are not alone.  Almost everyone I know has at one point said “I just don’t have time!”

So here are a few helpful hints to help you find little pockets of time to build a successful home business in the midst of your busy life.

One thing that has been extremely helpful with my business has been to write down how I spend all of my time during the week.  I don’t just mean “home” or “at work” but every single things that you do during the day.

For instance, I found that during a certain day of the week I was watching 3 hours of television and on another night I was just surfing the Internet for a couple of hours and not accomplishing anything.

I promise you that even if you have the business of schedules if you do this exercise you will find a ton of time you never even knew you had.

Another tip is to get up one hour earlier in the morning or go to bed one hour later at night.  Of course, I do not want you to be dead tired during the next day, but one hour is not really that much and you can get a lot accomplished during that time.

A lot of people find it to be very effective to work their home based business on their lunch break from work.  If you get an hour for lunch, you can eat for the first 15 minutes and then make calls for the last 45.  You can have good conversations in 45 minutes.

Remember that finding time to work your home based business is all a matter of desire.  If you really want to make it happen you can do it no matter what your schedule looks like while others can have a ton of time but very little desire (and usually get very little done).

Make the choice to find time every single day to work on building your business.  A successful home business is like nothing else.  You can build it once and it will take care of you for a very, very long time.  Make some small sacrifices now for a huge payoff in the future.

Home Based Business Success Tips For Work At Home Moms

January 29th, 2009

Being a successful work at home mom can be the more rewarding thing in the world. You get to be at home with your children and spend quality time with them while you build a career and an income you can be truly proud of!

If you’re a work at home mom who’s not having as much fun and success as you would like or if you’re a woman who’s just starting to think about working from home here are a few success tips for you. Make the most out of being a businesses woman and a mom!

1. Take some time for yourself

If you’re both a mom and a business woman chances are you’re an incredibly busy lady. In order to be great at both those things you need to take a little time just for you. It doesn’t have to be long but just spending 20 or 30 minutes doing something that you’d like to do can work wonders.

It can be hard to find that time but if you really start looking for it it’s there. Nap time is a great time to just enjoy doing something you want to do. Or when your kids are in school or perhaps sometime after dinner. Whenever you decide make sure you spend just a little bit of you time every day. It will help you be more productive in everything you do.

2. Involve your kids in your business

The next time you set a goal for your business try involving your kids in the process. Tell them that mommy is working on a goal and when she hit’s that goal you’re all going out for ice cream or going to an amusement park… whatever.

When you include your kids in your goals they’ll be happy to let mommy work because they know they’ll be a part of the reward.

3. Set your hours around your kids

One of the best things about being a stay at home mom is being able to be there for your kids no matter what. So don’t block out 8 hours of the day for work. Try working 1 hour here and 2 hours there through the day. That way you can spend plenty of time on your business without avoiding your kids. After all they are probably the biggest reason you’re working from home in the first place.

4. Don’t try to be someone you’re not

Women like to talk to other women. So when you’re on the phone you don’t have to pretend to be this big business women who’s got it all together. Just be you! It will comfort other women to know that an average woman just like you can take great care of her kids as well as run a successful business.

Being a work from home mom can be one of the greatest things a woman can do for her and her kids. Use these tips and make the most out of being a successful woman and a tremendous mom!

Seven Ways To Start Your Home Business In 2009 Off RIGHT!

January 19th, 2009

Don’t you just love the dawn of a new year? There is just something about starting the next 12 months off fresh and new that is exciting.

In this article I’m going to give you seven tips to starting 2009 off in the right way for you and your business. Let’s make this year the best one your business has ever seen!

Tip #1: Let go of past failures

Nothing can ruin a resolution or a goal in general like dwelling on the past. If you’ve had a lot of failures in the last 12 months you are going to have to let those go. This year can be whatever you want it to be and drudging up the past can’t make it right, it will only hurt your future.

We’ll use the example of losing weight since that happens to be the biggest and most popular resolution. Say your new years resolution for the past 5 years has been to lose 50 lbs but you’ve never done it. Does that mean you can’t do it this year? Of course not!

The past has nothing and I’ll say it again… nothing to do with your future. Let it go or you’ll be doomed to repeat it over and over again.

Tip #2: Set realistic goals

If you need to lose 200 lbs you’re probably not going to lose it in a year and if you want to be a millionaire in your home business you’re probably not going to get there in a year either. (Remember I’m saying probably, because really anything is possible)

If you set goals that are too big you’re setting yourself up to fail. Now I am not saying that you should set little tiny insignificant goals either. Think about what you really want from this year and set a goal that will force you to work hard and stretch but that is also attainable and you’ll be on the right track.

Tip #3: Create a blueprint for success

It’s crazy to set a goal without also giving yourself a way to accomplish it.

You can say “I want to lose 50 lbs.” all day long but unless you set up a diet and exercise plan you’re never going to get there. The same is true for your home business. If you want to make $50,000 this year you’ll need to set yourself up to succeed by creating a blueprint for success.

How many hours a week are you going to work? What are you going to be doing to generate leads? How much will you be marketing vs. how long will you be training your team? You’re going to have to ask yourself all these things and more if you really want to win in 2009.

Tip #4: Don’t make excuses

Want to kill your resolution before February hits? It’s easy just make a ton of excuses. A real winner doesn’t make excuses. No you’re not always going to follow your blueprint to the letter but work hard to correct it right away and move on.

Successful people make plans not excuses.

Tip #5: Ignore the stumbles

“Well I ate a piece of birthday cake yesterday so I might as well eat this pizza today”

Over the next 12 months it is inevitable that you’re going to stumble a little bit but don’t let that one time thing turn into a habit and ruin your entire year. Just get right back in the game and act like it never happened.

Tip #6: Find a partner in crime

Finding a partner, teammate or friend who shares your goals is a great way to stay on track. Chances are they will be motivated when you’re not and you’ll be motivated when they’re not.

Having a partner in your goals gives you the accountability that we all need from time to time!

Tip #7: Celebrate the small victories

It can be said that losing 5 lbs is as big of a victory as losing 50. So make sure to celebrate the little victories in your business as it grows. Making your first $100, $1000 or signing your first customer up is something to get really excited about! It means you’re well on your way to creating a strong and life changing business!

Never forget about the little steps along the way that allow your to reach your big goals!

Marketing Your Home Business: Avoid Word Vomit

January 19th, 2009

In the movie “Mean Girls” starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams the main character Cady talks about something called “word vomit” that’s when you start saying things that you really don’t need to be saying but you can’t help it.

So what on earth does that have to do with your home based business? Well I believe that when almost all new home based business owners are talking to people about their business they have a severe case of “word vomit”.

It’s really not your fault, you actually think you’re doing the right thing. After all if someone wants to know about your home business you should give them as much information as possible right?  Wrong.

When talking to someone about your opportunity less is always, always, always more. This is not to say that you should keep important information a secret or act like you’re ashamed of your business. Does a prospect need to know the type of business you’re in? Yes. Do they need to know what they’ll be doing if they become involved? Yes. Do they need to know how much money they make on their 3rd level? NO!

I know that it’s super easy to get excited about your new business but don’t say too much and risk overwhelming a prospect.

Try to answer only the questions that are asked of you in an honest and professional way without giving people too many details that they don’t need.

This is especially true when it comes to marketing online. I can’t tell you how many times I see people advertising their home based business and giving way too many details. Think about the way big fortune 500 companies advertise. They talk about their product, service, store whatever and then stop. They don’t tell you the starting salary for their employees, the directions to get to their nearest location and the name of the college their CEO when to school. It’s just too much information!

Are you starting to see what I’m saying? Less really is more when it comes to your home based business! So the next time you’re talking to someone about your business remember to:

– Answer the questions they ask you honestly and then stop

– Don’t get bogged down in the little details

– Don’t assume prospects want to know something wait for them to ask

Follow these tips and avoid the “word vomit” that can kill your business.
