The first reason is simple and basic. It is secondary income. Even if we weren’t in the middle of a huge recession how couldn’t use a little secondary income?

When you have a second income you can not only pay all of your bills but you can also do some of the fun things that many people are missing out of because of these hard economic times.

Another reason a home based business will recession proof your life is that you can never get fired when you work for yourself. Even if you have a great job that pays you a lot of money you still should think about what would happen if that income was gone tomorrow.

Many people who believed their jobs would always be secure are now finding themselves in the un-employment line. Really no ones job is safe. The only way you are promised any kind of income is through a home based business. That’s not doom and gloom that’s just a fact.

Besides having a secondary income and a job you can’t get fired from here are a few more good solid reasons why you should seriously think about working from home: spend less money on gas, take your children out of daycare, don’t spend money going out to lunch, start part time and build your income up before you leave your job!

The list goes on and on. In this economic climate working from home just makes good sense! Don’t wait until it’s too late to start making money from home and recession proofing your families lifestyle.

Here is something I just don’t understand… why do so many people listen to their broke friends? I’ve wondered this for years and years. I mean sure if you want advice on dating then maybe, or clothes I guess that’s ok, but why take advice on money from someone who doesn’t have any?

There is something that successful people know that your broke friends will never ever tell you. That secret is that when you join a home based business… any home based business you can succeed or you could fail and here is the kicker the choice is totally up to you!

You heard me right, success is a choice. It always has been and it always will be. If you choose to fail you will and if you choose to succeed you’ll do that too.

So why would anyone choose to fail? Well I really don’t think they know they’re doing it but they are. If you join a business with the idea that you’ll “give it a shot” you can stop right there because you’ve just made a choice to fail in that business.

If you join a business but you don’t want to tell any of your family and friends about it you’ve again chosen failure instead of success. And if you join a business and barely work at it or only give it a month or two you’ve chosen the road to failure.

So how do you choose success then? After all nobody joins a business and knowingly wants to fail. At least not any sane person.

Well for starters you can join the business with the mindset that it’s going to change your life forever. Don’t think small like an extra $500 or $1000 a month, think BIG. Nobody who “gives it a shot” will ever see success so take that out of your vocabulary right now.

You also have to be confident enough in your business to tell the people who are closest to you about it. This does not mean bugging your friends and family until they’re avoiding your calls and pretending like their not home. It just means that you should share it with them. If they say no that’s totally fine. You just shouldn’t be ashamed of what you’re doing.

Another way to choose success is to give yourself time to win. There isn’t a business alive that can promise you wealth in a couple of months. It’s going to take some time, but believe me it’s well worth it.

Get all the negativity out of your business and don’t let people tell you you’re going to fail. If you listen to them you will fail.

Stop making the choice to fail and start winning. There is noting like success in a home based business.

Too often in life we leave our personal success in the hands of others but the real winners in life know that you and you alone are in control of your financial future.

It’s frustrated me for years that so many people leave their success for other people to decide. Why is that? Whether it’s your spouse, your boss, your parents or your friends you have to cut it out! If you really want to live the life of your dreams you’re going to have to take back the power in your own life and stop relying on others.

So what exactly do I mean?

Well think about it. When you have a job your boss has all the power. He (or she) can hire you, fire you, give you a raise, promote you, demote you… whatever they want. It really doesn’t matter how hard you work or how much better you are than anyone else in your office because we all know that promotions and raises are never JUST about performance.

Few things frustrate people more than getting passed over for a promotion because of office politics or favoritism.

You’d think after some point we’d start to get it… but most people just don’t. The only way to be completely in control of your bank account is to work for yourself.

It’s not just your boss that can hold you back though. Many times people let their spouses talk them out of starting a home based business. This is perhaps the most tragic thing of all because if your spouse is stopping you from starting your own business they aren’t just hurting you they’re also hurting themselves and stopping your children from living the life of their dreams!

Now let’s not forget about parents. They mean well of course but parents who are negative about home based businesses are actually holding their children back from more success than they could ever imagine. Obviously a 10 year old can’t join a home based business but if you start building your business when you’re 18 or 19 you could be living the life of your dreams before most of your friends are done with college!

Oh and speaking of friends they can hold you back too, many people are afraid to join a business because they don’t want their friends to make fun of them or they’re just afraid they won’t understand. Making decisions that effect your life based on public opinion is just silly. Remember you have to do what’s best for you if you really want success.

So stop waiting on that promotion and quit worrying about what everyone else is thinking. The key to true financial success is taking control of your own future. You can live the life of your dreams but nobody else is going to give it to you, go claim it!

As I’m building a successful home based business, I find myself asking:

Brent, are you obsessed with success?

When we hear or say the word “obessed” we begin thinking that is a bad thing.  But I am not convinced that being obsessed with success is bad at all.

Most people just “wish” they were successful.  They might set a few goals to be successful.  If they don’t meet those goals, they stop.  There is no driving force, no passion, nothing.

But when you are obsessed with obtaining success, you’ll work until you’re dog tired in order to move a step closer.  It is all about doing it, doing it, doing it, and not giving up.  You dream about it.  You toss and turn at night about it.  It stays on your mind and makes you want to set aside trivial thing in order to obtain it.

Yes, I’m obsessed with success.  Are you?

Success in my home business is something that sticks with me.  No matter what I’m doing, I’m craving success.  I’m thinking of what I can be doing today to help me be successful.  I’m thinking of what I can do tomorrow to help me be successful.  I’m thinking of what I can improve.  I’m thinking of what I can trim out of my daily schedule to help me get to the place I want to go.

You could say I’m obsessed.  But what is wrong with it?
