10 Tips For MLM Home Based Business Success

Success in a MLM home based business can be achieved.


Here are 10 simple tips for making sure you have MLM success, whether you are brand new to MLM or are a veteran.


    Tip #1: Choose the “right” company


I believe everyone has the “right” company for them. Everyone is going to say that they have the “right company for you, but in the end, you must make a decision.


There are key points to consider in choosing your “right” company:


Do you believe in the product?


Is the compensation plan workable (in short, can you make money)?


Do you agree with the company vision/philosophy?


Does the management seem ethical?


Does your support team (i.e. sponsor/upline, mentors, etc) seem knowledgeable and reliable?


Do you see yourself with this company 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now, etc?

There are many other things that could be considered, but these should be enough to get your juices flowing.


    Tip #2: Be enthusiastic, but be yourself


No one likes a dull presenter. At the same time, no one likes hype. The balance is to be enthusiastic and excited but not come across like you spent too much at your local coffee house. Be proud of what you are presenting, be it the business or the product, but avoid hyping it.


    Tip #3: Keep “plugged in”


Your company or your support team should have conference calls regularly to inform, motivate, and instruct. These are invaluable to keeping a positive and focused mindset. If you keep on these calls, you will learn something new, be on the front-end of the news of new promotions, and will be inspired by hearing the success of others.


With keeping “plugged in” comes company events, conventions, conferences, etc. These are often a sacrifice financially if you are just starting, but the rewards you get from them, motivation, knowledge, and inspiration to name a few, will be of great benefit to your business. Attend these if possible.


    Tip #4: Keep developing yourself


Being in MLM is more than building a team. It is about building yourself. The more you improve yourself, the more powerful you become when helping your team develop themselves. Self improvement is an on-going task, even for those who reach the highest levels and incomes of their companies.


    Tip #5: Be a product of your product


You should be on auto-ship or some type of automatic ordering of your company’s product or services. How can you share a testimony of your product if you have not used it yourself? Get the product, use it, and track your results, whether it be in how you feel, what you save, what you gained, or whatever your product is meant to do. This creates a powerful testimony (and, if others in your company has similar testimonies, be sure to use those with your testimony).


    Tip #6: Surround Yourself With Positivity


Be careful about who you associate with. It is usually easier for people to rub off on you than for you to rub off on multiple other people. If you find yourself in company with those who are negative, view things in a negative tone, or are negative about what you are trying to accomplish in your MLM home based business, then find someone positive to be around.


This is all about controlling your mindset. If you keep feeding your mind negativity and negative thoughts (either from yourself or from the social influences around you), you will find yourself becoming more negative. Your outlook on your business will be negative as well as reducing your will to work.


However, if you surround yourself with like-minded people or encouraging people, you will have a positive outlook on what you are trying to achieve.


    Tip #7: Establish a mentor


Sometimes your sponsor is not the person you need to build a mentoring relationship with. There is nothing wrong with going to your upline or a successful cross-line (someone that does not benefit financially from your success) individual to seek guidance, knowledge, or encouragement. Your sponsor should be doing the same thing.


    Tip #8: Diversify your marketing


Do not put all of your eggs in one basket. There are a lot of ways you can market your MLM business. Find a mix of what works for you and follow it. Add more to what you are currently doing as your time permits.


    Tip #9: Never take “no” personally


The word “no” immediately spawns negative thoughts. Remember that “no” never means that you are a bad person, that you are horrible at what you do, or that you should give up. “No” really means that they are not qualified for your time yet. Not everyone understands the power of a MLM home based business. These people will continue to say “no” to any chance of success outside of a job. It has nothing to do with you but everything to do with them.


This is a prime example of where having a positive mindset and surrounding yourself with positive people helps. With a positive mindset, you know that a “no” is simply a stepping stone to a “yes.”


    Tip #10: Never quit


I write about quitting often. People do not understand what implications quitting has on their lives. To quit their MLM home based business is giving up on their goals and their dreams. Yes, some do migrate to another company, but many simply give up.


Before anyone quits, they need to ask themselves how they plan to accomplish their “why,” or their reason for wanting to start a home business. If giving up on their reason is okay with them, they are not fit for this business. Most people never remind themselves of why achieving goals is important. Quitting simply is blocking out goals and accepting their current standards. It is accepting apathy instead of excellence.
